Hidden Pond Lodge

Hochatown Adventure Planer – TravelTips & Suggestions

Day of Travel & Departure: If possible, consider leaving earlier to arrive in or near Hochatown before the 4 PM check-in time. There are lots of fun things to do around town before check-in. Perhaps an early dinner in Broken Bow, everyone loves a petting zoo or see the Big Animals at Hochatown’s in car Safari (10 minutes from the Cabin).

Traffic suggestions: Travel from Texas to Hochatown has two areas of (avoidable) road congestion, the Idabel loop at Road 70 & 259. If traffic is backed up in the afternoon, consider touring downtown Idabel and getting on Route 259 North, on the east side of Idabel. 10 Miles north is Broken Bow, traffic is always slow northbound 259 & 70. Before that intersection, take a right at the Arby’s, then take a left on Randy Rutherford Boulevard and go north, this will take you behind the Walmart and Pruitt food, cross over Rt 70 and have lunch/dinner at a great restaurant called Rogue Local (Try the Salmon Power Bowl !) At this point you’re less than 25 minutes from Hidden Pond Lodge

What food to bring? Many of our guests bring ample provisions from home, however our little Hochatown offers a growing collection of food resources. North of Broken Bow, stop by Hochabow for wood fired pizza, preprepared scratch kitchen Italian meals, gourmet coffee and exotic chocolates. In addition our local merchants offer prime and Wagyu beef, take-home meals, specialty grocery Items & fine dinning. After dinner, take the kids out for Ice cream and drop the parents off at the wine tasting place …

Hochatown adventures & excursions: Treat yourself to the luxury of an in-cabin chef, who will create delectable meals right before your eyes. Need transportation for the whole family around town? Our trusted local car service is at your service. Explore the tranquil waters with river rubber floats, kayak providers, or embark on a leisurely pontoon or boat rental adventure. Just north of Hochatown, Adult Golf at Cedar Creek Golf Course. You could learn to flyfish or try Zipping aka Zip Lines, then ride an electric 4 wheel drive go kart thru the woods. After dark, try the New Casino.      PS – Weekends get busy, if possible, make reservations with our local providers before you arrive in Hochatown.

Before you leave (10 AM Check out) If possible, resist the urge to leave early (many Cabin guests leave town at 10 AM, more traffic … ). We invite you to make the most of your remaining time in beautiful south eastern Oklahoma, take a slow cruse around Broken Bow lake, play a game of Mini Golf or run the Maze. Perhaps a leisurely meal at a charming restaurant, or take a 45 minute family hike before heading back home. Your adventure may be ending, but the memories you’ve made will last a lifetime.
